Following information will help you analyze progress as you track tasks in your project:

  • Duration
  • Work
  • Start date
  • Finish Date

Duration: The total span of active working time that is required to complete a task. This is generally the amount of working time from start to finish of a task as defined by the project and resource calendar.

Work: For tasks, the total labor required to complete a task. For assignments, the amount of work to which a resource is assigned. For resources, the total amount of work to which a resource is assigned for all tasks. Work is different from task duration.

Start Date: The date when a task is scheduled to begin. This date is based on the duration, calendars and constraints of dependent tasks. A task's start date is also based on its own calendars and constraints.

Finish Date: The date that a task is scheduled to be completed. This date is based on the task's start date, duration, calendars, task dependencies, and constraints.

Variations of the following fields helps to compare and evaluate the progress of the project

Planned: A schedule of task's start and finish dates .A baseline plan is the original plan that you save and use to monitor progress. Planned information is also known as Baseline information which includes Baseline start date, Baseline Finish date, Baseline work, Baseline Duration, Work variance and Duration Variance.  

Scheduled: Scheduled shows the current information about a project.  It includes actual and remaining dates, durations of ongoing tasks, latest projected dates, and upcoming tasks. If you need to change the constraint on one task and add a dependency on another, the scheduled information is recalculated to provide you with the most up-to-date picture of your project.

When you start entering actual information on in-progress tasks, scheduled information takes that into account and recalculates accordingly. For example, scheduled work is calculated as Actual Work + Remaining Work. For completed tasks, scheduled information is the same as actual information.

Actual: Information that shows what has actually occurred. For example, the actual start date for a task is the day that the task started. It also includes Actual Finish date, Work, Duration. By entering one or two fields the other actual information can be calculated. Actual Information explains the real time required to accomplish a certain task.

Remaining Work: Remaining work is nothing but the amount of work, in terms of a time unit such as hours or days, which is left to be completed for a task. This is calculated as follows: Remaining Work = Work - Actual Work. For tasks not yet started or tasks in progress, there exists remaining work, and remaining duration. These fields estimate the amount of time left before the task is complete. Remaining fields are a projection of the future.

For tasks not yet started, the contents of the Remaining Work field are the same as that of the Scheduled Work field. For tasks in progress, remaining work is calculated as Scheduled Work - Actual Work. However, the Remaining Work field can be edited, as can the Actual Work and Scheduled Work fields.

Variance Information: Variance fields include Work Variance, Cost Variance, Duration Variance, Start Variance, and Finish Variance. Saving the baseline helps in calculating variance fields.

Current scheduled information is compared with your original planned information. The Variance field shows the calculated difference between planned and scheduled information. For example, the Work Variance field shows the difference between the Baseline Work and Scheduled Work field

A Gantt chart is a project management tool that represents the timing of projects or tasks as they occur within a given timeline. Since Gantt charts are easy to understand, they are used by most project managers and collaborators to illustrate progress.
A Gantt chart shows the progress of assigned projects and tasks for users who have access to the Project. Project.net provides task and project views (daily, weekly).

You can use scheduled tasks to do it.1) Create a new task2) Don't use the wizrad to create the task. Simply right click in the scheduled tasks area and select New from the popup menu. And give the new job a name.3) right click on the new task and select Properties from the popup menu.4) In the Run: prompt type:CMD /C shutdown -s -f 5) set the password6) set the schedule7) make sure its enabled, and you're good to go.OROn some computers, you can set an auto-off time in the computer's CMOS, but I don't think it would shutdown the system clean .OR Per your addendum, you can set the power mode to shutdown the computer after three hours of no activity. Open up the display options (control panel display applet, or right click on the desktop and select Properties from the popup menu). Go to the Screen Saver tab. Click the power button and then set how long to wait before the system hibernates.

I've found that Nathan's level of activity demntriees how good of a nap he'll take. If we had a quiet morning with more quiet play, he'd take a shorter nap. If we had a more active morning with more large motor skill play he would nap much better. Nathan was a late walker... but once he started walking on his own and has thus become much more active during his playtime, he's been taking better naps. I even have him crawl up the stairs (with me right behind him) to get to his room so he uses even more muscles to tire out before a nap. Now that its finally nice out and we've been playing outside, his naps have improved that much more! : )
